It has existed since the Egyptian period, about 4,800 years ago, but I do not have any clear evidence. But wearing a ring is often worn on the left ring finger because it is believed that the left ring finger has a blood vessel that leads to the heart. The Romans called that vein vena amoris or "vein of love".

มีมาตั้งแต่สมัยอียิปต์ราว 4,800 ปีมาแล้วแต่ก้อไม่ได้มีหลักฐานปรากฎแน่ชัดหรอกครับ แต่การสวมแหวนมักจะนิยมสวมกันที่นิ้วนางข้างซ้ายเพราะมีความเชื่อกันว่านิ้วนางข้างซ้ายมีเส้นเลือดที่ต่อไปถึงหัวใจ ชาวโรมันได้เรียก เส้นเลือด นั้นว่า vena amoris หรือ “เส้นเลือดแห่งความรัก” นั่นเองครับ
ต่อมาธรรมเนียมการสวมแหวน จึงเป็น จุดเริ่มต้นของ พิธีหมั้น เพื่อเป็นการประกาศให้รู้ว่า ผู้หญิงที่สวมแหวนวงนี้ คือ ผู้หญิงที่กำลังจะเข้าพิธีแต่งงานและเป็นการแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของอีกวิธีหนึ่งของผู้ชายโรมัน ซึ่งธรรมเนียมการสวมแหวนเป็นที่ได้รับความนิยมและปฏิบัติกันมาตลอดจนถึงปัจจุบัน.........
